About

Our History:

We began life as Action House some years ago and we have grown steadily since. We are managed by a Voluntary Management Committee and are Ofsted registered. We can cater for up to 60 children at any one time from ages 4-11 years on the St Paul's site. Our last Ofsted inspection at our St Paul's site was in Jan 2013 and we were graded as “good”.  We have also opened at Surrey Hills School, Westcott and are registered there for 32 children from 4-11 years. Our last Ofsted inspection here was in March 2013 and again we were graded as "good". The full report can be seen on Ofsted’s website which you can access through our links tab at the top of this page.

Staff:

We have a range of qualified staff who are all experienced and enthusiastic in working with children!

Aims:

We aim to provide great quality childcare and play opportunities for primary aged children in and around the Dorking area. We are committed to providing equal opportunities for play and participation and we will ensure that your child has a safe and happy time at Action House. Children and parents are encouraged to give us feedback to the services we provide which enables us to strive for and sustain for a quality play provision. We listen to the needs and preferences of the children in our care and try where possible and appropriate, to meet those needs, for example chosen activities and new equipment and/or visitors to the setting. We regularly involve the children in our planning which they participate enthusiastically in! This takes a variety of forms, for example simple discussion, feedback from questionnaires or notes posted on a board! Often our children will simply make suggestions to us in advance or on the day!

We provide unlimited drinks of sugar free squash and water. As well as this we provide a range of snacks including toast, sandwiches, cheese and biscuits, fruit, cereal bars and Frubes. During our playschemes we DO NOT provide lunch. If your child is staying all day, you will need to provide this and we are strictly a NUT FREE club!

We also have a sick child policy. If your child has not been at school or has been sent home from school, they will not be able to attend the After School Club. If your child is unwell, particularly if they have vomited within 24 hours of their planned attendance at the playscheme, then we do ask that they do not attend that day. We would also ask that you allow a further 24 hours "vomiting free" before returning to us. If they become ill during the After School Club or Holiday Playscheme, we will of course contact you. Further details can be found in our Sick Children Policy.
